Y7’s remaining U.S. studios are shutting down, though possible New York reopenings remain unresolved

Current assessment: The available evidence supports reporting that Y7 Studio’s remaining U.S. locations were being shut down as of September 11, 2026, ending operations across New York, Los Angeles and Austin with limited public notice. The evidence does not yet establish that every site was permanently closed: one report says all eight studios had shuttered, while another says two New York locations were scheduled to hold final classes that Friday and that five New York sites were being evaluated for a possible reopening.

Reported facts: Inc. reported on September 11 that Y7, a boutique yoga company founded in 2013, had closed all eight of its studios. Its reporting describes closures occurring after individual locations began closing in late August. Inc. also reported that Vincent “Vin” Miceli, whose VM Fitness had taken over Y7 operations during 2026, wrote to staff that final payroll was expected within the following week and suggested that selected locations might reopen.

Hybrid Fitness Media separately reported reviewing an email from Miceli stating that Y7 had decided to shut down its current studios in New York, Los Angeles and Austin. That report said two New York locations still open would hold their final classes on September 11, while sites that had already closed would remain closed. It also reported that Miceli was exploring a reopening of five New York locations,East Village, Upper East Side, Flatiron, Park Slope and Williamsburg, but that the email did not guarantee those reopenings.

Supporting evidence: The two published accounts are materially consistent on the central point: Y7’s current studio operations were being closed across its three active markets. Inc.’s report is based on interviews with founder Sarah Larson Levey and a former studio lead, as well as emails it says it reviewed. Hybrid Fitness Media likewise says it reviewed a staff email from Miceli. Both accounts describe a rapid operational deterioration and reduced notice to staff and members.

Inc. also reported that Levey said Y7 was sold to FitLab in late 2024 and that VM Fitness took over its operations in mid-2026. These ownership and operational details are reported claims and context from Inc.; they are not independently confirmed here by corporate filings or a public statement from FitLab, VM Fitness or Y7.

Limitations and competing evidence: The most important limitation is timing. Inc.’s headline and report characterize the network as eight closed studios, but Hybrid Fitness Media reported that two New York sites were still due to offer final classes on September 11. This appears consistent with a network-wide shutdown in progress, but it makes a categorical statement that all locations were already closed at one moment too broad.

Y7’s public website remained accessible when reviewed and continued to display studio-booking and promotional material. That page did not provide a current closure notice, and its visible promotional content included older date references. It therefore does not rebut the reporting, but it is not reliable confirmation of the real-time operating status of individual studios. No direct public statement from Y7, FitLab or VM Fitness explaining the closure, confirming a final location count, or setting out member-refund and employee-payment arrangements was located.

The reports also contain claims from coaches and former staff about missed payroll, canceled classes and member refunds. Those accounts raise material concerns, but this reporting does not independently verify individual wage claims, the amount of any unpaid compensation, or whether refunds will be issued.

Current conclusion: A cautious reading is that Y7’s active studio business was being shut down across New York, Los Angeles and Austin on or around September 11, 2026, after a period of piecemeal closures. The available record supports describing this as a broad closure of Y7’s then-current studio network with little warning. It does not establish a final permanent closure of the entire brand or rule out reopening at selected New York locations. A direct operator statement, confirmed final class schedules, and documentation of any reopening plan would materially refine that assessment.
