The Bamboo Root Board Review

Review: The Bamboo Root Board

Jack Utermoehl

Embracing yoga at home has become essential for many including myself. The Bamboo Root Board has transformed how I practice in my personal space. It replicates the solid, dependable foundation one expects from professional yoga studio floors, making practice at home possible for millions of people.

The Bamboo Root Board

The Bamboo Root Board's aesthetic design comes from its simplicity. Crafted from sustainable Moso bamboo, it's not only an eco-friendly choice but also extremely durable. The bamboo's natural strength is complemented by a protective UV coating, ensuring it withstands constant use over the long-term while maintaining its beauty.

Its substantial weight keeps the board stable during practice, allowing for a focus on form and posture without any shifts or slips. The Root Board is especially valuable if your yoga room is carpeted.

Root Board Features

Dimensions: Fully assembled, it measures 76¾” x 28½" x ½”, and each half is 40¼” x 28½”, making it spacious yet manageable.
Weight: Each panel weighs 14 lbs, contributing to a total of 28 lbs that anchor it firmly in place.
Portability: Despite its robust build, the board includes two ergonomic handholds, making it surprisingly portable. The included side clips secure the two halves together, ensuring a smooth, uninterrupted surface.

Root Board Function

Whether I'm practicing in my carpeted apartment, at a peach orchard outdoors, or in the desert sands, the Bamboo Root Board guarantees a stable and flat surface for my yoga mat. It's been a game changer for my home practice allowing me to practice in my living room at any time.

The Root Board has two primary pieces. The panels, which cleanly fit together like two puzzle pieces, form the full length board. It is accompanied by 2 clips that help to keep the two pieces together when on very soft or uneven surfaces.

Depending on the carpet I used mine on, the board stuck well to the floor with only the occasional slide on the carpet when I put too much force in one direction, which I’m bound to do in a Vinyasa yoga class. This is easily negated with more control of my practice or perhaps by some soft velcro on the bottom however I did not need to resort to this to avoid the minor sliding.

Root Board Care

I found maintaining The Root Board to be straightforward, a quick wipe with a moist towel will remove unwanted debris. The coating means you can use just about any kind of cleaner you want to. Which is always recommended after extended use.

Personal Reflections on the Root Board

The Root Board can become a core part of your daily practice. It provides the stability for practicing yoga, or any exercise, on carpet or other soft surfaces. Its thoughtful design reflects a deep understanding of what yogis need to practice effectively at home or outdoors.

I’ve used my Root Board extensively to practice in my living room on carpet. It has proven to be a solid platform for my yoga practice. Its aesthetics perfectly match my own product, the Flux cork yoga mat.
