Magnilay Large Expandable Yoga Bag Review

Review: Magnilay Large Expandable Yoga Bag

Jack Utermoehl

I practice yoga at several local studios, in parks, and I travel the country to yoga festivals and yoga studios. I understand the challenge of carrying my mat, props, clothing, and all my other everyday stuff to and from these studios. The Magnilay Large Expandable Yoga Bag has been a game changer in simplifying this process, offering a practical and versatile solution for transporting my gear.

Expandable for Extra Wide Yoga Mats

One of the standout features of this bag is its expandable design. While I don’t use an extra-wide yoga mat, I do carry my Flux cork yoga mat alongside yoga props and my stuff. The expandable size from 27” to 32” ensures that most extra wide mats fit comfortably with room for additional yoga accessories.
One thing I love is that I can carry 2 yoga mats in this bag if I wanted to and depending on the dimensions of the yoga mat, I might be able to carry 3!

Carrying Comfort and Versatility

The adjustable shoulder strap is great. I can even snap the straps to the bag and use the carrying handles, which is my preferred way to carry this bag.

Whether I’m walking to a class across town or just from my car to the studio, being able to switch between carrying it on one shoulder, wearing it crossbody, or like a duffle bag with the handles makes all the difference.

The adjustable strap is sturdy, distributing weight evenly and making it easy to carry my mat and other essentials without straining my shoulders.

Ample Storage and Organization

The bag’s numerous pockets provide enough space to carry everything I need for my practice. I can comfortably fit two yoga blocks, a water bottle, a towel, and straps without the bag feeling overly stuffed.

But where this bag excels is the strategically placed pockets that keep things organized. It has the main compartment for your yoga mat with an inside zippered pocket to store valuables. Outside there are two drop pockets, one large enough for a yoga mat in and of itself and a smaller one that will fit any size water bottle (or two!). And an additional zippered pocket on the outside.

Durable and Reliable for Daily Use

Constructed from 100% Oxford 900D material, the bag is as durable as it is practical. Its water-resistant fabric is an added bonus, especially when I’m caught in the rain on my way to class.

The bag also has a vent that allows it to ‘breath’ keeping the inside more fresh than a traditional bag that traps in moisture, in usually sweat in the case of yoga or exercise bags. This vent prevents moisture from building up in the bag and on your yoga gear!

Customer Reviews

“I am not one to write a review but this bag is great! I’ve purchased two other bags to hold my yoga mat while I ride my bike and they did not work. I have an extra long Manduka Pro mat and it easily fits in this bag. I love the side zip, side handles, and the extra length when unzipped. The shoulder strap unzips to split the strap for either a wide one shoulder or two backpack straps. There are also two side pockets, one that is the length of the bag and a second that will hold your entire water bottle so it won’t fall out. The fabric is durable and did I say, this bag is perfect?! Thank you!”

“I've been very happy with this. On my previous bag, the steps busted off one stitch at a time. The construction on this bag is very sturdy. It holds my mat in the big central pocket, clothes in the biggest side pocket, water bottle and towel in a smaller pocket, and phone in the smallest pocket. There are multiple carrying options including backpack style and across the shoulders. It's great!”

- Dustin

“I’m a beginning yoga student and wanted a bag that would be versatile enough to accommodate my needs as my experience with yoga grows. This bag is perfect! It has loads of pockets designed for a variety of purposes so that I won’t be left wishing I had a place for something I might need in the future, plus its flexible design allows you expand the length of the bag as well as carry in three ways: as a shoulder sling, a backpack, or a duffle. A thoughtful little magnetized snap holds the straps close to the bag when carrying it like a duffle. As someone who appreciates quality fabric the oxford cloth is durable and made to last while still lightweight with a soft and comfortable feel. I’m very happy with my Magnilay purchase!”
