Ayurveda revolves around three biological energies called Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. These energies, that we call doshas, are influenced by diet, lifestyle, climate, and emotions, meaning they can shift from day to day—or even hour to hour.
What many don’t realize is that there is a difference between prakriti (inherent constitution) and vikriti (current state). Without understanding these nuances, I’ve seen many people choose diets or exercise routines that fail to address their real-time needs.
Recognizing Shifts in Your Constitution
Every season changes how our inherent constitution interacts with the world and same goes for our stages in life.
I'm in a very pitta state of my life where I am motivated and energized to build, create, produce, and do but that's not a guarantee day-to-day it's simply my current dosha on a more regular basis.
As I move through my life I've shifted between all three doshas, sometimes having 2 or 3 in balance and other times having only 1 or even none in balance.

Give yourself a few quiet minutes to reflect on each prompt. The focus is on current tendencies—how you feel in your body and mind right now.
Remember It’s a Snapshot
This assessment is not a medical diagnosis or full Ayurvedic consultation. Think of it as a quick, educational tool. If you find your results indicate a high Pitta, for example, but you feel differently, consider new circumstances that might be affecting you (seasonal changes, stress, travel, etc.).
Review the Results
You may find one dosha strongly pronounced or two doshas equally active. The purpose is to shine light on where your energies lie in this moment, so you can respond more effectively to your needs.

When you understand which dosha is out of balance, you can choose practices that bring relief. This often involves simple daily shifts:
Vata: Emphasize warm, nourishing soups; stick to a soothing routine; practice slow, grounding yoga flows.
Pitta: Use cooling pranayama techniques such as sheetali (cooling breath); reduce spicy or fried foods; take breaks in nature or near water.
Kapha: Try lighter meals such as steamed veggies or salads; commit to energizing asanas (physical postures) like sun salutations; add short bursts of cardio to spark energy.
If your results show multiple doshas (like Pitta and Vata together), consider combining strategies that address both dryness (Vata) and heat (Pitta).
The goal is synergy rather than rigid adherence to a single guideline.
