Jack Utermoehl

Svādhiṣṭhāna Mudra (sva-dhi-STHA-na) - Gesture of the Inner Dwelling Place

Svadhisthana mudra, the gesture of the inner dwelling place, is associated with the sacral chakra (Svadhisthana), which governs creativity, emotions, and self-nourishment. This mudra helps in balancing emotional energy, evoking creativity, and enhancing pleasure derived by the flow of life.

Svadhisthana mudra is a powerful seal for activating the sacral chakra. Use this mudra for self-nourishment whether you’re finding nourishment in friends and family or in what you consume, Svadhisthana mudra allows you to feel those nutrients flowing within.

Personal Insights

Svadhisthana mudra is an interesting mudra to hold as it involves more than just a hasta (hand) mudra by requiring the left arm to be at a specific angle away from the body. Practicing Svadhisthana mudra may even feel silly at first especially when standing. However, after holding this pose, you may notice a shift.

While holding this mudra, feel yourself offering with your left hand from the inner dwelling place connected to your right hand.

Allow yourself to be at home in your sacral chakra here.

I’m curious to know your own experience in the comments section.
