Make a Difference One Yoga Mat at a Time

Jack Utermoehl

My name is Jack, and I am the founder of Asivana Yoga Company. I started practicing yoga over 9 years ago as a way to manage my stress and improve my physical health. Over time, my yoga practice became more than just a workout - it became a way of life. I began to explore the deeper aspects of yoga, including the philosophy and the spiritual teachings. As my practice deepened, I became more aware of the impact that my choices had on the environment.

As a yoga teacher, I knew that I had the power to inspire others to make positive changes in their lives. I wanted to create a company that aligned with my values and my commitment to sustainability. That's why I founded Asivana Yoga Company, with the goal of creating eco-friendly yoga products that would have a positive impact on the environment.

A Journey to Sustainability

Our journey to sustainability began with a realization that the yoga industry, like so many others, was full of products made from synthetic materials that were neither eco-friendly nor sustainable. As avid yoga practitioners ourselves, we knew that there had to be a better way to create high-quality yoga products that were good for both people and the planet.

After much research and exploration, we discovered cork and natural rubber as the perfect materials for our yoga products. These materials offer many benefits that cannot be found in synthetic materials, and they align perfectly with our commitment to sustainability.

We worked hard to find the best sources of cork and natural rubber, seeking out suppliers that shared our values and commitment to eco-friendliness. It was a challenge at times, but we knew that it was essential to stay true to our mission.

Through trial and error, we developed our cork and natural rubber yoga mats, with a focus on both sustainability and performance. We are proud to say that our yoga mats have received rave reviews from yoga practitioners all over the world, who appreciate the high-quality materials, excellent grip, and sustainability of our products.

We know that there is always more that we can do to improve our sustainability efforts, and we are constantly looking for ways to reduce our environmental impact and increase our positive contributions to the planet.

Ultimately, our journey to sustainability is about more than just creating eco-friendly yoga products; it's about creating a better world for all of us to live in. We believe that through our commitment to sustainability, we can make a difference and inspire others to do the same.

The Power of Cork and Natural Rubber

Cork, for example, is a remarkable material because it is both sustainable and recyclable. In addition to being sustainable, cork also has several benefits for yoga practice. It is naturally antimicrobial, which means it resists the growth of bacteria, fungus, and other microorganisms. This makes it a great option for yoga mats, as it can help prevent the spread of germs and odors.

Natural rubber is another excellent choice for eco-friendly yoga mats. It is derived from the sap of rubber trees, which can be harvested without harming the tree. Like cork, natural rubber is a renewable resource that is also biodegradable and recyclable. It is also naturally sticky, which makes it an ideal material for yoga mats, as it provides a good grip that helps prevent slips and falls.

However, not all natural rubber is created equal. That's why we only use natural rubber that is sourced from sustainable plantations, which follow strict guidelines to ensure that the rubber is harvested in an environmentally responsible way.

Sustainability as a Core Value

At Asivana, we are committed to promoting sustainability and supporting the health and well-being of our planet, and we believe that our use of cork and natural rubber is just one small step towards a more sustainable future. We hope that our products inspire other yoga practitioners to make sustainable choices in their own practice and daily lives.

Our commitment to sustainability is more than just a business decision. It's a personal one. We are passionate about preserving the environment and leaving a positive impact on the world, and we believe that our use of eco-friendly materials is just one small way we can make a difference.

When you choose an Asivana cork yoga mat, you're not only choosing a quality product that supports your practice, you're also choosing to support a company that values sustainability and is committed to making a positive impact on the world.
