Om Shanti Shanti Shanti is one of the most well-known mantras in the yoga tradition.

Often chanted at the end of classes, meditations, or sacred texts, it is an invocation of peace within ourselves, within others, and within the world.

Each repetition of shanti is traditionally directed toward a different source of suffering, bringing balance to the physical, mental, and spiritual planes of existence.

  1. Adhibhautika (external disturbances – environment, people, animals)
  2. Adhidaivika (divine or unseen forces – fate, karma, nature)
  3. Adhyatmika (internal suffering – body, mind, emotions)
